ADS 06 // LAKEWORTH APARTMENTS

As the city of Lake Worth seeks new development opportunities, our FIU Design 6 Studio has conducted extensive research and proposed a variety of potential residential and commercial buildings. For my project, I chose to focus on the parcel of land located at 30 S K Street, currently a vacant lot. The abundance of trees on the site inspired me to design a vibrant living space centered around a tropical courtyard. My design process included efforts to incorporate elements of Art Deco and a nautical aesthetic, reflecting the unique character of the area. Lake Worth, situated on the east coast of Northern Florida, offers residents a natural sense of perpetual vacation. With rapid new development underway, I felt it was important to preserve the city’s historical charm while emphasizing its slower-paced lifestyle and strong sense of community. The building I designed features a welcoming courtyard, accessible to both residents and public visitors during daylight hours. This presentation will provide a glimpse into my proposal, which aims to continue the expansion of this historic neighborhood with a respectful and thoughtful approach to design.
